A week later...

In case anyone is still checking on this blog, I thought I would give a little update since I have been told some people are having "withdrawls" from Brynn!

Our first week home has been fantastic. She seems to be adjusting really well and her "off" behavior is pretty typical of a 2 year old. I still worry about her attachment and adjustment in the coming months, but then again, I have concerns about certain aspects of each of the boys too (okay, except for Evan where my concern is more for the sanity of Doug and I when he becomes a teenager) so I guess worries are just par for the course for parents.

She is a daredevil - loves the trampoline much more than her brothers did at her age and loves to swing really high - but at the same time wants Doug or I to walk her down the slip and slide, likes to kick back in the stroller for a ride, and likes the pool but not water in her eyes. Her tantrums are mellowing and just today, she and Evan were nice to each other off and on a a few, brief occasions. She loves to dance to the Chinese music cd I bought for the plane ride home. She is just now starting to sit through someone reading her a book and has become a master at brushing her teeth, thanks to her brothers who convinced her it was an okay thing. She is learning how to go up and down stairs and today finally wore sandals without socks. She can say some words now - Dora, flower, fish, night night, boo boo (due to a descending the stairs mishap), teeth, shoes.

I sent Doug the day after we got home to the store for some noodles for her - I told him to look in the Asian section, which where we live, is pretty tiny. I'm still not sure that the fortune cookies he brought home instead are a comparable substitute! :) It was pretty funny. It hasn't taken Brynn long to bond with daddy, though she is still a bit more clingy to me. We are still trying to keep her outings short and trying to limit interactions with too many people so she is not overwhelmed... I realized on the trip to the grocery store yesterday on a holiday weekend that I was pushing my luck and came home quickly and empty handed.

We head to the doctor on Thursday for her first check-up and unfortunately for her, probably her first vaccinations since we will likely have hers redone! More then...

Kate -

Thanks for the update. I was one of the people going through winthdrawl.

I'm glad to hear that things are coming together (which I knew they would, be knew it wasn't going to be an easy transition at first).

I have purposely not called or dropped by in order to give you time to devote to your family, however, when you are up for some company or would like to get out of the house for a change of venue, give me a call!

Also, please don't hesitate to let me know if I can help (and that includes going grocery shopping for you!)

Hope to see you soon!

Karen

P.S.: Absolutely LOVE the new photos!

Kate,
Thank you for updating us on your family. The pictures are great and it looks as though things are coming alone just wonderfully. Hope to "see" you on the board again soon.
